The importance of prayer

Prayer isn't just for for Sundays or when we have a prayer meeting, but should permeate everything we do here at Nant Coch. We meet together twice a week to pray, once online and once in person. But we also encourage every person to pray individually at home each day. It is good to set aside a set time each day when we can pray to our heavenly Father.

Online prayer meeting – Saturdays at 09:00

Every Saturday morning at 9am we meet online for prayer. If you would like to join us please contact the elders for log in information.

In-person prayer meeting – Sundays at 18:30

Our new in-person prayer meeting will take place at 18:30 on Sundays. All are encouraged to attend.

Requests for prayer

If you would like someone to pray with you, please email Frank have a prayer request, please send it to us via our contact page, email Frank at pastor@nantcoch.org.uk or come along and speak to someone on a Sunday morning. We would love to pray for you!

Prayer chain

If you have a prayer request and would like others in the church to pray for you, we have a prayer chain which is run by Jan Harris. You can either phone her on 01633 668903 or send an email to prayer@nantcoch.org.uk. Prayer requests are then emailed to around 40 people who belong to the church and who will pray for you.

Prayer focus

We currently have two major foci for prayer in the church. The first is for Holiday Club which takes place in the last full week of August and the second is for church growth. Each person who belongs to Nant Coch is encouraged to pray each day for these two important priorities. You may use your own words to pray but for those who find it difficult to pray or are more comfortable saying a set prayer, below are two suggested prayers.
Prayers for Holiday Club
Dear Lord,

We pray for our Holiday Club which is to take place at the end of August.

We pray that you would bless our endeavours to reach young children and to share with them the good news of Jesus Christ and His love for each of us.

We pray for the planning and preparations beforehand, that you would inspire the leaders of Holiday Club and guide them as they plan the various activities and especially the message they are to give each day. We pray, too, that we will have sufficient leaders to run the Holiday Club safely and well and that everyone in the church will play a part, whether through prayer or active help before, during and after the week.

We pray that you would send many children to the Holiday Club, that they would enjoy attending and that many would discover You for the first time.

We pray for the parents and carers of the children who come, and that our endeavours may encourage many of them to join us in church each Sunday to praise and worship You.

We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Dear Heavenly Father

Thank You for giving me this opportunity to present my prayers, requests, petitions and concerns before your throne.

I thank You for this potential opportunity that we as a church have before us in August: to share the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ with those who do not often come to Nant Coch Church.
I thank You for your promise that if I ask anything in Jesus’ Name, it will come to pass.

I thank You that nothing is too hard for You. Therefore, with faith and confidence, I come before You to present our church Holiday Club to You.

I pray for those who are leading the event, that they will have the wisdom and the strength of the Lord to serve You through their decision-making, their creativity and their enthusiasm in making this Holiday Club be an exciting and life-changing place to be.

I pray for all those who have volunteered, even though there may be age and physical restrictions, that they will continue to trust and rely upon Your strength, in order to serve You in serving those who are attending this amazing event, whether they are teaching the children, serving the refreshments, part of the registration process, getting involved with the games, speaking to the parents, catering or setting up each day behind the scenes. May Your hand of protection be upon them all, may they all come under the shelter of Your wings.

I pray for all the children and their parents that as they attend that they may know Your peace and love in Nant Coch Church. I pray that this will be an opportunity for doors to be opened and contacts be made. I pray that this will be an opportunity for them to know the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they may hear about Him and know Him as their Lord and Saviour and that this will be the beginning of a new era for us as a church.

I thank You Heavenly Father that You hear my simple prayers spoken in that mustard seed of faith and, therefore, I believe that all things come together for good for those who love You.

May Your name be glorified in our Holiday Club this August.

In the Name of Jesus Christ I pray

Amen.
Prayers for our church
Dear Lord,

We pray for our church and its future.

We believe you have placed our church in a strategic part of Newport and that You want us to continue the work that You started more than 80 years ago.

We thank You for the faithful work of our forebears in establishing our church and for seeing how it flourished in the past. We ask for Your forgiveness for our failure to further Your work within our community.

We beseech You to bless our current endeavours to take Your word into the community and that we would see many families wanting to join us in the near future to praise and worship You.

We thank You for the faithful work of those who lead our various activities, but acknowledge that our physical limitations no longer enable us to do what we once did. We pray that You would raise up new leaders for our church to take up leadership reins and to enable Your church to flourish once again.

We ask these things in Jesus' name.

Amen
Dear Heavenly Father

Thank You that You always see, know and perceive all things even before they come to pass. Thank You that You have given us Your permission to enter Your presence and have fellowship with You, as those who belong to You.

Thank You that You listen, even to the simplicity of my cry, for You see my heart and all that it desires. Nothing escapes Your attention. Thank You for Your comfort, peace, love and encouragement that You have placed over my life and the life of Nant Coch Church.

It is with this confidence that I lay before you Nant Coch Church and its future. You see, Father, we are an ever-diminishing and elderly congregation. Even though I believe You have called us all to be part of building Your church, yet, I also see the physical restrictions, as an ageing people, that have finally come upon us.

We need Your help, Your intervention, Your wisdom and Your influence over us. We often become afraid of change, as we step into those tomorrows, yet I know that change is necessary, vital and must come now, if we as a church will continue and grow.

Heavenly Father, throughout the years we have tried different ways and methods to encourage growth and increase our numbers within Nant Coch Church, yet without sustained success. Teach me Your ways, may I know Your truth and may Your hand come upon Your church once again, that our latter years will be greater than our former years. The cry of my heart is that You would have Your way, that I would discern Your will and that I may know the leading and direction of Your hand over my life and over Nant Coch Church.

I pray that I will be used and not be afraid to help grow Your church. Please fill me with Your wisdom and discernment. May I walk in the fullness of Your Holy Spirit and allow You to bring about the change that is needed so that Nant Coch Church will rise and grow again. Challenge and convict me so that I will not resist or restrict Your will and purpose for what You have in store for my life and the life of Nant Coch Church.

I pray all this in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Build your church again Lord Jesus!

Amen.
